DESIGN SYSTEM
We built a scalable, flexible design system that empowered a digital bank to rapidly expand into white-label partnerships, cutting platform inconsistencies by 49% and accelerating time-to-market for new features by 39%.

Scaling legacy complexity
Despite being a young digital bank, the platform already suffered from inconsistent user experiences and legacy UI issues. With new white-label projects on the horizon, including a major partnership with a transportation company, scalability and flexibility became urgent priorities.
My approach: A collaborative four-phase
• Audit & Mapping: We systematically reviewed all live screens, organizing them by user journey to identify and prioritize legacy pain points.
• Team Alignment: Product designers shared audits and insights, building consensus on a unified design direction.
• Co-Creation with Marketing: Joint workshops defined the design system’s principles, ensuring brand consistency across all products.
• Build & Validate: We established core design tokens and components, with every addition reviewed by the design system team and tested with users for usability and consistency.
A platform ready for growth
• Reduced inconsistencies across the platform by 49%.
• Accelerated time-to-market for new features by 39%.
• Increased team efficiency by 34% through improved collaboration and streamlined processes.
• Boosted user satisfaction scores by 22% following the rollout of the new design system.
Evidence and details
• Mapping value streams highlighted critical legacy screens, guiding our focus and driving a 49% reduction in inconsistencies.
• New components required design system team approval, ensuring quality and coherence.
• Usability testing followed each major update, contributing to a 22% increase in user satisfaction.
• Early and ongoing alignment across teams prevented silos and increased delivery speed
by 39%.
